Helping community through serving dry Rashan

COVID-19 food distribution Coronavirus is a pandemic which has been frighten the world through its fast and rapid spread in the human lives and causes death. Coronavirus are the large family of zoonotic viruses that causes illness and then death. COVID-19 is the recent infection which became Pandemic. Common signs of COVID-19 are dry cough, fever, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties in more severe cases infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and death. Government of India lockdown whole country on 24 March, sudden announcement sent waves of panic across millions daily wages workers. Most of the laborers have got stuck in the middle of the situation they do have any space to live and though they do not have an option to go their homes but to stay here. In this crisis SAMARTH organization has come forward to provide rashon to needy people like daily wages worker, homeless and other people affected by the lockdown impose by the Government in view of the CORONAVIRUS pandemic. SAMARTH believe as a human it’s our responsibility to help most vulnerable group throughout through education, providing awareness session but this time our people are in big trouble they are not having food to eat so SAMARTH is helping vulnerable group by providing rashon kit door to door. SAMARTH provide one kit to each family. In one kit SAMARTH is providing 5 kg wheat flour, 5 kg rice, 1 litre oil, 1 packet sugar, one packet salt and other essential things like dish soaps, bathing soaps, and shampoo bottles. The areas covered by the SAMARTH team are Gomtinagar, Alambagh, Aliganj, Chinhut, Sadar,Vikas Nagar, Khurram nagar, Jankipuram, Sahara estate etc. and many slum areas. SAMARTH team also gave ration to road side people whomsoever was needy, around 350 packets have been providing to almost 2000 people benefited by this till now. Whole team of SAMARTH is taking part in the campaign, Director SAMARTH Dr Pravesh Dwivedi himself leading the campaign and going with the volunteers to serve the needful. The volunteer have been taking necessary hygiene precautions by wearing gloves and face masks and using hand sanitizers during food distribution and also tell the people regarding the precaution like social distancing, wearing masks they should take during the situation. During the visit our volunteer had good experience which brings tears in their eyes. ‘Team went to kurram nagar there they met with an old people whose son is on dialysis they had nothing to eat they fold their hands and give blessing to the volunteers with tear in their eyes’. ‘Then volunteer moved towards the Cantt area they went there was a slum there also families had nothing to eat an old lady aged approx 75 ran towards the car as she heard about the distribution of ration by the team one of the volunteer yelled mata ji come slowly we will give rashon to you also but when she came near the car she told that I was running because I have nothing to eat so was afraid whether I will get it or not.’ SAMARTH team also met with construction labours who had came to Lucknow from the Chattisghar for work but due to lockdown their work have stopped they are living the construction site and have nothing to eat as they are daily wage worker. They heaved sign of relief when they were given the rashon kit. There are many stories like these. Till now SAMARTH have distributed ration to 500 families already and this campaign is still on going on.
